TAILOR-MADE PRIVATE TRAVEL TO BUENOS AIRES

Buenos Aires combines the elegance of its European heritage with a character that is unmistakably Latin American.

Sprawling, occasionally chaotic, and markedly different from one neighbourhood to the next, the Argentine capital is home to tango, the world’s finest polo and a booming art and restaurant scene. It is glamorous and sophisticated, cool and progressive – yet also deeply traditional.

Buenos Aires is one of the cities we know best; PSA was founded here, and part of our team is still based in the city. We keep a tight edit of hotels and restaurants, can secure last-minute tables, tickets, and visits to private collections, and introduce you to the galleries, tango halls and other places that are worth your time.

What to see and do in Buenos Aires

Walk the grand streets of Recoleta and Retiro, past the mansions of Plaza San Martín and Belle Époque façades of Avenida Alvear.

In San Telmo, browse the antiques around Plaza Dorrego and stop for coffee at one of the old bares notables. Further north, Palermo, Villa Crespo and Chacarita are home to many of our favourite restaurants, galleries and boutiques. Alongside the old parrillas, pizzerias and neighbourhood cafés, there is an increasingly interesting generation of Argentine restaurants and wine bars that is well worth exploring.

For art, start at MALBA and the galleries around Palermo and Villa Crespo, then visit private collections by appointment. Teatro Colón is worth seeing for the building alone, though preferably for a performance. After dark, we tend to favour smaller milongas and live music venues over the larger tango dinner shows.

Beyond Buenos Aires, the Pampas stretch south and west. This is the land of the gaucho, tending cattle amid an empty horizon. If time allows, spend a few nights on a traditional estancia, riding with gauchos, playing a few chukkas and sitting down to an asado cooked slowly over an open fire.
