Chiriqui

Nature thrives in the lush rainforests of the Chiriqui highlands, home to an abundance of flora and fauna. Stay at a small eco-lodge in a breathtaking valley, exploring mountains and forests on beautiful nature trails. Panama is one of the top bird-watching destinations in Latin America, with over 950 species identified and Chiriqui is home to some of its most exotic. For the adventurous traveller, its mountain peaks and rivers offer fantastic biking, hiking, climbing and rafting. We’d recommend spending a few days on a traditional cattle ranch to get under the skin of rural Panama and partake in local life. This is also the country’s prime coffee growing region due to its climate, altitude and fertile soil that produces some of the best coffee and citrus fruits in the world. Learn the process from bean to cup on a visit to one of many quaint plantations that line the undulating landscape brilliant green. Jungle meets white sands on Chiriqui’s southern coast which boasts stunning beaches, fantastic surf and humpback whale watching from July to October.
