To explore Argentina’s gaucho traditions, there are few experiences more exhilarating than an adventure on horseback in Patagonia. Rio Quillen, one of Argentina’s great estancias, offers an itinerary geared for riding and fishing, lake swims, afternoon siestas and hearty picnics. This 8-night journey, book-ended with some time in Buenos Aires, combines four nights in the main lodge with two nights under canvas. Rides are led by gauchos and feature dramatic volcanic lagoons, soaring Andean peaks and forests of lenga, monkey puzzle and pine trees.
