WELCOME TO ESTANCIA Don Joaquín

Journey to the heart of rural Argentina with a stay at Estancia Don Joaquín, where the thrill and serenity of gaucho life set the pace to each day.

Estancia Don Joaquín is a working, family-owned cattle ranch in the Corrientes province of Argentina. Here, vast countryside plains and wetlands converge to form a biodiverse landscape.

The best way to explore the estancia and its surrounding areas is from the saddle. With a herd of around 70 beautiful horses, beginners and dedicated equestrians alike are in for a riding holiday they won’t soon forget.

What we love about Estancia Don Joaquín

  • Rides led by gauchos, with the opportunity to partake in the ranch’s daily tasks, such as cattle driving and spotting newborn calves.
  • Abundant wildlife, including capybaras, caiman alligators, and over 200 species of birds.
  • With 8 distinct trail rides, each day at the estancia brings a new adventure and landscape to explore.
  • Additional activities and excursions such as fishing, cooking classes, wine tastings, bird watching expeditions, polo lessons and spa treatments.
  • 12 distinct rooms, each with their own bathroom and view of the grasslands.
  • Dedicated staff that invites guests to experience the traditions of their fifth-generation farming family. They also create custom made itineraries to meet the wishes of each guest.
What to do at Estancia Don Joaquín

Though no two days at Estancia Don Joaquín are the same, everyday brings you closer to  nature.

Connecting with your natural surroundings simply starts by opening the curtains. Sip your morning coffee while spotting famous native Argentine birds in the estancia’s gardens. It’s the perfect way to ready yourself for the day’s first ride.

Once you’re saddled up, you’ll choose between a peaceful meander through the grasslands, or a more rugged and active herding adventure. Perhaps the following day you’ll ride through the scrublands or wade your horse through captivating lagoons and rivers. Those seeking uninterrupted riding and exploration should consider a 7 day, 6 night horse expedition.

A day at Estancia Don Joaquín might conclude with an empanada cooking class, wine tasting by the fire, or a sunset dinner at the nearby Don Joaquin River Lodge. If the moon is bright and the skies are clear, a nighttime ride is also an option.
