The Eje Cafetero or “coffee axis” sits at the crossroads between the towns of Armenia, Manizales and Pereira in central Colombia. Often called the Coffee Triangle, the region is every bit the bucolic idyll, bottle green hills are dotted with coffee plants, lolloping banana palms and exotic flora; straw-hatted farmers buzz along meandering roads in jeeps laden with spoils for market while pastures are grazed by plump, glossy-coated Brahman cattle.
As expected, when in the Coffee Triangle we arrange coffee tastings and tours of the plantations, as well as visits to the market towns of Salento and Manizales. However, some of our more active favorites include afternoons in the saddle accompanied by our beloved horse whisperer. If you want to fully enjoy the landscape views of the region, you can take to the skies and travel between haciendas by hot air balloon.
We have singled out a couple of delightful working farms and have access to one of the most spectacular properties in the Coffee Triangle for private rental, complete with staff, horses and swimming pool. The region is a must on any luxury vacation to Colombia and we are here to help you make it happen.
