WELCOME TO CARAHUASI – A PRIVATE LODGE & NATURE RETREAT

Carahuasi is a private mountain lodge deep within Cordoba’s Sierras Grandes.

At the centre of a private 6,000 hectare nature reserve sits a warm, deeply comfortable house sleeping up to ten guests. Available exclusively for one group at a time, Carahuasi offers complete privacy – making it an ideal place for families and friends to gather and experience the Argentine countryside at their own pace.

A stay here is all about riding through hidden valleys and along little-used trails, hiking to high peaks and ridges, swimming in the crystal-clear river that winds through the reserve, and dining on hearty wood-fired meals, with produce from the land.

What we love about Carahuasi Lodge
  • Cozy, traditional Argentine design – the lodge is carved out of stone and blends into its surroundings, with warm, comfortable interiors.
  • Complete privacy – wonderfully quiet, remote setting in a secluded valley, 2 hours from Cordoba and 1 hour from the nearest town, with no visible neighbours.
  • Accommodation is spread across the main house (with the master suite and communal spaces) and two separate guest wings (two suites each), giving everyone space to spread out.
  • The owners personally host every stay, alongside a team of local chefs, housekeepers, gauchos and guides who bring the culture of the sierras to life.
  • Fantastic home cooking – their specialty is Blackface lamb from the property’s own land, slow-cooked over a wood fire.
  • Great for families – it began as a family place and works well for multi-generational groups, with plenty of space for kids to roam safely.

What to do at Carahuasi

Experience Cordoba’s dramatic landscapes and equestrian culture on horseback, by foot or 4×4.

Saddle up and set out directly from the house, riding through rugged hills, valleys and dry river beds, accompanied by local gaucho guides. Rides can be adapted to every level of rider and how far you want to go, from a few leisurely hours in the saddle to full-day expeditions with an outdoor lunch set up somewhere scenic along the way.

Hike trails through the hills, take in the view from high ridges and discover hidden waterfalls such as Salto del Tigre and Cascada Arco Iris. Explore Pueblo Escondido, an abandoned mining village tucked into the hills, or stroll through the estate’s walnut plantation. Swim in the property’s private river, with clear water and beautiful granite pools, then settle in for an al fresco asado by the water.

Every stay at Carahuasi is designed around your group and how you like to spend your time.
