Cruise the Upper Peruvian Amazon on one of Delfin’s three luxury riverboats, our favourite being Delfin I.
With just four large suites, Delfin I is the smallest and most exclusive of the three, and is perfect for chartering with a group of friends.
What we love about Delfin I
- The four luxury suites with private panoramic terraces
- The floor-to-ceiling windows, meaning that wildlife sightings are rarely missed
- The food, always incorporating local flavours and delicacies
- The guides and their ability to spot wildlife from afar
- The viewing deck, the ideal spot to admire your surroundings
When stepping off Delfin I, your days will be spent hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, birdwatching, and visiting local communities.
Piranha fishing is not to be missed. Make sure to look out for the iconic Amazonian pink river dolphins.
The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is home to 269 species of fish, 450 species of birds, 32 species of mammals, and 965 species of plants.
Choose from 3 or 4 night programmes.
Fly from Lima to Iquitos (there are direct daily flights) where you will be transferred to Nauta, the private port from where Delfin I departs. On certain days of the week, Iquitos can also be reached directly from Cusco.
You will spend your time onboard Delfin I exploring the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, which is the size of New Jersey.
When to Travel
The weather in the Peruvian Amazon is hot and humid.
The “High Water” season, between December and May, sees slightly cooler temperatures, but more rain. Fewer trails are able to be walked during these months, but higher river levels mean that more areas can be accessed by boat.
The “Low Water” season, between June and November, is when more hiking can take place, and you are more likely to see migratory birds flying over the jungle.
