Uyuni Salt Flats

The mesmerisingly bright, white Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world and one of the most impressive highlights of Bolivia.  Located in in the southwestern Altiplano region at over 3,653 metres (11,985 ft) above sea level, here you will find otherworldly pentagons of crystalline salt, set against a backdrop of lagoons, volcanoes, flora, flamingos and boundless skies.

Be sure to visit some of the area’s most breathtaking spots – including the spectacularly diverse Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve and its Laguna Colorado, best known for its flocks of flamingos and the red tone of its waters.  We will also be sure you don’t miss the boiling lava and volcanic craters at the ‘’Sol de Manaña’’ Geyers, or the emerald green and turquoise Laguna Verde.

A jaw-dropping sight year-round, it is best to visit during the dry months from May -October.  During the rainy season, the salt flats take on a mirror-like quality acting as a natural mirror and reflecting the sky in an impressive visual display.

Considering the size of the salt flats, there is lots of ground to cover and many lodging options to consider. We work with only the best options, each of which is completely focused on excellent service, an authentic experience and enjoying the region for what it is, simply majestic. Be it a glamping setup or a unique camper, Uyuni offers a one of a kind experience in all forms.
