Casa Polanco

BOUTIQUE LUXURY HOTEL IN MEXICO CITY

WELCOME TO CASA POLANCO

A handsome 19-suite hotel overlooking Parque Lincoln in the heart of Polanco, and our favourite place to stay in Mexico City.

Set in a restored 1930s private residence, it has retained much of its original character, with original arches, decorative ceilings, wrought ironwork and cantera stone. Inside, there are spacious rooms, leafy courtyards and sitting rooms filled with art, books and Mexican design, alongside a library, treatment room and top-floor gym.

The hotel is home to an excellent and growing collection of Mexican art, curated by Santiago Toca and owner Octavio Aguilar, alongside contemporary furniture by Mexican designers. Step outside and you’ll find yourself within walking distance of some of the city’s best restaurants, museums, galleries and boutiques.

What we love about Casa Polanco

  • The history: originally constructed in the 1930s as a private residence, Casa Polanco has since been owned by some of Mexico City’s most notable aristocratic families.
  • Its rooms are notably spacious for Mexico City, with marble bathrooms and Xinú bath products; our favourites are the larger Lincoln and Polanco suites, with terraces overlooking the park.
  • Wonderful breakfasts served in the high-ceilinged central salon: chilaquiles, eggs cooked to order, pastries, seasonal fruit, fresh juice and coffee.
  • The daily complimentary cocktail hour with champagne and housemade nibbles brings guests together each evening before heading out to dinner.
  • The library and reading room, with scenic views of Parque Lincoln.
  • On the top floor, the small gym looks directly into the treetops of the park; there’s also a tucked-away treatment room for massages and facials.
What to do at Casa Polanco

Casa Polanco puts some of Mexico City’s best food, art and shopping within walking distance.

Start in Parque Lincoln, directly opposite the hotel, then stroll through the neighbourhood’s leafy streets, past early 20th-century mansions, independent galleries and boutiques, and the designer stores of Avenida Presidente Masaryk.

A short walk away, Museo Nacional de Antropología holds Mexico’s extraordinary collection of pre-Hispanic art and artefacts. From there, continue into Chapultepec Park to visit the castle, contemporary art museums and gardens. For contemporary art, head north to Museo Jumex, designed by David Chipperfield, and Museo Soumaya.

While the hotel doesn’t offer dining, you won’t miss it; the restaurants in Polanco are among the best in the city. Pujol and Quintonil are both close by, alongside excellent neighbourhood eateries, bakeries and bars. We can arrange tables well in advance, or take you out with one of our guides to explore the city’s markets, taquerías and lesser-known local favourites.
