Set away from San Pedro, the property feels removed enough from light and traffic but still within reach of the Atacama’s landscapes. UNAI is well-placed to explore the Atacama’s desert landscapes, including the salt flats, volcanic viewpoints, lunar valleys, and archaeological sites around San Pedro de Atacama. Excursions can be arranged around the classic desert highlights, with time for short walks, photography and slower hours in the open air.
Back at UNAI, the experience is deliberately pared back. Guests can relax in the wellness area, spend time at the restaurant, or within their tented suites, where the draw is silence, the long desert light and the views of Licancabur.
When to Travel
The Atacama can be visited year-round, though temperatures shift sharply between day and night. March to May and September to November bring warm days, cooler evenings, and fewer extremes than high summer or winter.
December to February brings hotter daytime temperatures and the possibility of summer storms in the high Andes, while June to August is drier and clearer but colder, particularly at dawn and after sunset.
