Turtle Inn

WELCOME TO TURTLE INN

One of Francis Ford Coppola’s Central American hotels, Turtle Inn is located near the small fishing village of Placencia, on the Caribbean coast of Belize.

The 17-acre plot has Balinese-style thatched cottages, with hammocks overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Diving is a must at the Turtle Inn – the hotel has its own Padi dive centre.

What we love about Turtle Inn

  • The 25 rustic, Balinese-style beach cottages (we recommend an oceanfront one!)
  • The two-bedroom Pavilion House with a private pool (also where Francis stays when he’s in town)
  • The impact on the environment is kept to a minimum – no air conditioning is used, the cottages are built with locally sourced materials & vegetables are grown on-site to be used in the hotel’s restaurant
  • The Laughing Fish – the hotel’s relaxed beach bar
  • The onsite PADI dive centre
What to do at Turtle Inn

Spend your days at Turtle Inn dipping your toes into the warm Caribbean sea.

Relax by the pool or on the beach with a good book. Tuck into some delicious seafood at the beachfront Gauguin Grill & enjoy cocktails a plenty at The Laughing Fish bar.

Make the most of the hotel’s complimentary kayaks & paddle boards. The onsite dive centre offers courses for both beginners & experienced divers.

Belize is considered one of the best locations for diving in the world, so be sure to incorporate this into your stay at Turtle Inn.

For the active, visit a nearby jaguar preserve, or impressive Mayan ruins, or go riding through the jungle.

TURTLE INN

Turtle Inn is located near the small fishing village of Placencia, on the Caribbean coast of Belize. There are direct flights to Placencia from Belize City & Punta Gorda.

Belize City can be reached directly from Cancun, Los Angeles & Miami.

When to Travel

Placencia experiences tropical weather. The temperature remains constant throughout the year (an average of 24-27°C) & the seasons are defined by the amount of rainfall. We would recommend travelling between December & April to avoid the heaviest downpours.

The best time to visit for diving is between April & June when whale sharks can be seen.
