Step straight into the heart of the Amazon with guided experiences designed to reveal the jungle’s wonders.
Take a boat trip to the parrot and macaw clay lick, where hundreds of brightly coloured birds gather each morning. Paddle across Lake Condenado by canoe, surrounded by dense tropical vegetation and alive with birdlife. Hike through forest wetlands to Lake Sachavacayoc, where the waters shelter black caiman and giant river otters.
As evening falls, join a nighttime excursion along the Tambopata River and forest trails, listening to the jungle’s nocturnal sounds and spotting caimans under starlit skies. Back at the lodge, unwind in a hammock or explore the quiet forest trails on your own.

Tambopata Ecolodge is located in the southeast of Peru, around 68km from the jungle town of Puerto Maldonado. It can be easily reached from the city of Cusco via half-hour scheduled flights, direct flights from Lima.
From the airport, it is three hours by land transfer and then boat to the jungle lodge, in the heart of a protected natural area of primary rainforest, bordered to the east and southeast by Brazil and Bolivia.
There are also flights from Lima or Cusco to Puerto Maldonado which arrive in plenty of time for our guests to catch the daily schedule of Tambopata’s own boats to the lodge. Private transfers can also be arranged at unusual hours.

When to travel
The weather in the Peruvian Amazon is hot and humid year round.
The ‘High Water’ season, between December and May, sees slightly cooler temperatures, but more rain. Fewer trails are able to be walked during these months, but higher river levels mean that more areas can be accessed by boat.
The ‘Low Water’ season, between June and November, is when more hiking can take place, and you are more likely to see migratory birds flying over the jungle.
