Surrounded by the exuberant beauty of the Brazilian coast, Pousada Tutabel is a green oasis that blends the hippie spirit of nearby Trancoso with sophisticated luxury. There’s horse-riding on the beach, kayaking through creeks and guided nature walks. But really this is a magical place to simply do nothing.

Turn off your phone and be beguiled by the slow pace of life. Feel the warm sand between your toes. Amble from your hammock to the pool or the sea for a dip. Pamper yourself with a relaxing treatment or while the day away sipping on caipirinhas.
This part of Brazil’s coastline, known as Discovery Coastline, is also full of history and an abundance of wildlife. Kayak through creeks and along the first mapped river in Brazil. Explore the nature reserve with a wildlife guide. Visit the Pataxó Jaqueira village to learn about the traditional indigenous people and their language, culture and way of life.
Make sure to venture along the coast to the enchanting fishing village, Trancoso. With its cobblestone streets and its dirt roads, it seems untouched by time. Breathe in the bohemian spirit and feel your shoulders drop. The town square, Quadrado, bordered by colourful, old fisherman houses, is a UNESCO world heritage site. After the sun sets, the square comes alive with al-fresco diners, artisans and dancers.
Pousada Tutable is located in the Bahia province of Brazil, known for its pristine beaches. The nearby city Porto Seguro is where the earliest Portuguese explorers first set foot on Brazilian soil in 1500.
Porto Seguro airport is an hour and a half drive from Pousada Tutabel and receives daily flights from Sao Paolo, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and Porto Alegre.
From December through to March, it is hot and there are lots of local festivals and holidays. April, May and October make for a good time to go for good weather and less people.
