Cross ravines on swaying suspension bridges, while spider monkeys leap between treetops overhead. Spot armadillos, wild boars and dozing fruit bats as you hike over dry lava fields. Enjoy a picnic, enveloped in green and soundtracked by the buzzing, chirping and howling of the jungle and its inhabitants. Descend canyons to reach spectacular waterfalls and plunge into the clear, pure water.
Beyond the jungle, there’s the opportunity to learn about coffee cultivation, visit The Proyecto Asis or visit Maleko village, where you can learn about the Maleko Indigenous population.
After a day of exploration, the tents’ private thermal-fed pools are the perfect spot to unwind, while gazing across to peak of Arenal Volcano with a margarita in hand.
Across the sprawling property, there’s an incredible selection of restaurants, including an intimate tapas bar, a northern Italian bistro and an al-fresco international restaurant with nightly live music. Each spot uses local ingredients and seasonal produce to create dishes with sophisticated and delicious flavours.
Nayara Tented Camp is located on the outskirts of Arenal Volcano National Park, five miles (8km) from La Fortuna town in the central region of Costa Rica.
There are international flights to both San Jose Airport (SJO) or Liberia Airport (LIR) from cities such as Mexico City, Cancun and Panama City. From either airport, Nayara is a 3 hour drive.
There is also a small airstrip in La Fortuna to which private flights from San Jose or Liberia can be arranged. The flight time from San Jose is 30 min and from Liberia is 40 min. From the airstrip, it’s a 15 minute drive to the resort.
La Fortuna is tropical all year round. The dry season spans the months of December to April, which makes it a great time to visit.
