A luxury holistic wellness resort is surrounded by the tranquil Bacalar lagoon and the lush Mayan jungle.
Nourish your body, mind and soul, while immersing yourself in local traditions and Mayan culture, at this lagoon-side oasis.
Participate in cacao rituals and indulge in a melipona honey wrap, or try the Janzu guided aquatic relaxation practice.
The rooms are designed to seamlessly connect with the calm and natural beauty of the setting. A-framed tented rooms with their bamboo-thatched rooftops offer a private retreat, with their earthy toned interiors and a private bathroom.
Choose to wake to the spectacle of a multihued sunrise from the Lagoon Rooms, or enveloped by abundant green in the Jungle Rooms. If you can’t choose, you have the best of both worlds in the Lagoon Breeze Rooms.
For those looking to totally switch off, this is an adults-only resort (guests must be 16 years or older).
What we love about Habitas Bacalar
- The integration with local traditions and ancient culture, for the wellness treatments, using produce grown on site.
- The bamboo-thatched rooms and calm, earthy feel of these private huts – a retreat in themselves.
- The calm waters of the Bacalar lagoon, ideal for paddle-boarding, kayaking, snorkelling, and Janzu guided aquatic exercises.

Learn about medicinal aromatic herbs in the botanical garden, and about local traditions and Mayan culture in the cacao and melipona honey huts.
Indulge in a treatment (which use melipona honey, coconut and cacao) in the spa and experience a Janzu aquatic relaxation session. Explore the waters of the Bacalar lagoon, with possibilities from sunrise to sunset, including paddle-boarding, kayaking in a transparent kayak, catamaran excursion – or flying across the surface of the water on a Lift Foil board. In the evenings enjoy the lagoon views while relaxing with a cocktail, and dining in Habitas Bacalar’s restaurant, Siete, with its emphasis on plant-based cooking.

Habitas Bacalar is located approximately 4.5 hours by car from Cancun International Airport (CUN), 3 hours from Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport (TQO) and 30 minutes by car from the smaller Chetumal International Airport (CTM). The international airport in Cancun offers significantly more direct international flight options. We can arrange private transfers to and from the airport to Habitas Bacalar.
