What we love about Estancia La Bamba
- It’s one of the oldest and best-preserved colonial-era estancias in Argentina
- Each of the 11 sophisticated rooms and suites at La Bamba has a private patio
- La Bamba offers authentic gaucho traditions such as gaucho shows, folk dances, Indian horse-whispering, and equestrian games
- It’s the base for an international polo team so guests can watch games on the estancia’s world-class polo fields
- Close to the charming town of San Antonio de Areco, the birthplace of the gaucho
- Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, biking, bird-watching, horse riding, swimming, fishing, polo lessons, badminton, spa treatments and billiards
- Every day, a traditional Argentinian asado is served for lunch
- Chef Federico leads cooking classes teaching guests how to make traditional Argentinian empanadas
- Nestled in unspoilt countryside yet only just over an hour from Buenos Aires
With an entire ranch at your disposal, Estancia la Bamba de Areco is very much a place to stay put.
Ride through the estancia with a gaucho, trek out on hikes and bike rides or arrange polo lessons. For those looking for a more relaxing itinerary, settle in front of the fire with a book and a glass of red wine or indulge in a hot stone massage.
If you must venture beyond the grounds, visit San Antonio de Areco, home to the Ricardo Güiraldes Gaucho Museum and a handful of traditional artisans. Its narrow streets and historic architecture make you feel like you’ve travelled back to the eighteenth century.
One of the most unique and memorable activities at Estancia La Bamba de Areco is a traditional gaucho show performed by a “horse-whisperer.”
Estancia La Bamba de Areco is located in the midst of a park in the heart of Pampa. While it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, the town of San Antonio de Areco is 30mins away by car and the centre of Buenos Aires is just over an hour.
There are daily national and international flights to Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) from cities such as Cordoba, Mendoza, Santiago, and Lima.

When to Travel
We’d recommend visiting La Bamba during the polo season (October to early December) for the opportunity to watch a polo game.
During Spring (September to November) and Autumn (March to May), the weather is mild and also the gardens and park surrounding the estancia look stunning.
