Reached only by a three-hour catamaran journey across Lago Argentino, this century-old estancia sits deep in Los Glaciares National Park, hidden in a remote valley guarded over by mountains and the Upsala glacier.
Founded in 1914, its 20 rooms are simple but comfortable, split across four cottages with wide panoramic views. Days are filled with proper adventures: hiking, riding, fossil hunting. Come for the space, the silence, and the sense that you’re somewhere few have ever truly seen.

Days at Estancia Cristina are all about exploring the Patagonian wilderness.
Estancia Cristina is your base for reaching the Upsala Glacier lookout, descending into the Cañadón de los Fósiles, and following remote trails across glacier valleys, alpine lakes, and lenga forests.
Some days involve 4×4 exhibitions and long hikes, others are gentler, like the short walk to Los Perros waterfall or a lakeside trail to Laguna de la Pesca. Everything is self-contained, well-marked, and refreshingly crowd-free.
When to Travel
October to April
The season at Estancia Cristina runs from October to April, when Patagonia is most accessible. December through February brings the warmest days (typically between 15–22°C) and long hours of daylight, ideal for hiking and boat trips across Lago Argentino. October and November are quieter, with snow still on the higher trails and wildflowers beginning to bloom. March and April are crisp and golden, with fewer visitors and spectacular autumn colours. Outside of these months, weather and access become unreliable. This is a place that follows nature’s lead.
