Blue Mist

Luxury Beach Hotel in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

WELCOME TO BLUE MIST

A small, laid-back beach hotel near Santa Teresa, with contemporary villas tucked in the jungle and a stylish beach club.

Blue Mist sits on Playa Hermosa, a quieter stretch of coast just north of Santa Teresa. The hotel has nine villas set among tropical gardens, together with a restaurant, beach club, swimming pool, bamboo yoga shala and small wellness centre.

Playa Hermosa is known for its long sandy beach and consistent surf. Surf in the morning, spend the afternoon exploring the peninsula’s waterfalls, beaches or fishing villages, or head into town, where Santa Teresa’s restaurants, cafes and boutiques are just a short drive away.

What we love about Blue Mist

  • The nine spacious, beautifully-designed 1- and 2-bedroom villas and bungalows, set in the jungle surrounded by lush tropical planting.
  • The location on Playa Hermosa – quieter and less developed than the main beaches of Santa Teresa, yet still less than a 10-minute drive to Santa Teresa’s cafés, restaurants and shops.
  • Great surfing – the hotel sits just five minutes from one of Costa Rica’s best surf breaks
  • The beach club and restaurant, open to guests and the public, serves great food with live DJs and incredible sunsets.
  • The yoga shala and wellness facilities, with a selection of spa treatments, cold plunge and sauna.
What to do at Blue Mist

Surfing is central to life here, and Playa Hermosa offers consistent waves for beginners and experienced surfers alike.

The hotel can arrange lessons, board hire and trips to other breaks along the peninsula. Away from the beach, explore the Nicoya Peninsula on horseback, hike to waterfalls hidden in the surrounding hills or head out by boat for fishing, snorkelling or a day on the water. Nearby Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve offers some of the peninsula’s best walking trails and wildlife, with white-faced capuchins, howler monkeys and coatis regularly seen in the forest.

Back at the hotel, spend your afternoons unwinding in the wellness center or by the pool, then catch the sunset from the beach club under the spell of melodic tunes. By night, head into Santa Teresa for dinner – we’re happy to recommend our favourite tables – or stay at the hotel, where the open-air restaurant serves fresh seafood and great cocktails.
