WELCOME TO LA BATIK
Hidden in the jungle beyond the sands of Playa Hermosa, Batik is an intimate collection of eight private villas on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula.
Inspired by Bali and built by local artisans, the houses are open to the elements, with high timber roofs, handcrafted furniture, private pools and lush tropical gardens.
There’s a wonderfully relaxed feel to Batik: start your day with yoga or a surf at Playa Hermosa, followed by a long lunch prepared by a private chef, an afternoon massage and sunset back at the villa. Santa Teresa’s restaurants, boutiques and lively surf scene are only a short drive away.
What we love about Batik
- Five private villas and three casitas, ranging from intimate one-bedroom hideaways to spacious three-bedroom houses.
- Inspired by the tropics of Bali, each villa has bold colours & handcrafted Indonesian furnishings.
- The staff includes daily housekeeping and a concierge, and a private chef, grocery shopping, surf lessons, yoga and spa treatments can all be arranged on request.
- Nearby activities include surfing, scuba diving, zip-lining, horseback riding, birdwatching & sailing.
- Incredible wildlife and biodiversity in nearby Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, Curú Wildlife Refuge, Barra Honda National Park and Tortuga Island.
- Stunning sunsets across the Pacific Ocean from Playa Hermosa.
What to do at Batik
Unwind on the volcanic sands of Playa Hermosa or within the tropical gardens of your villa.
Explore the rugged coastline aboard a private catamaran. Take a horseback ride along the beach or through the mountaintops as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean. Whizz through the forest canopy along a zipline. Hike to waterfalls in nearby Montezuma. Ride along the uncrowded waves of one of the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica. When to Travel
Our favourite time to visit is during the dry season, between December and April, when Santa Teresa sees sunny days and ideal beach weather. May to August is greener and quieter, with good surf and occasional afternoon showers. September and October see the heaviest rainfall.
