Atix Hotel

WELCOME TO ATIX HOTEL

Atix Hotel is La Paz’s first five-star boutique hotel.

Meaning, ‘One who thrives’ in Quechua, Atix Hotel has 53 rooms, each with sweeping views over the Andes mountains and city centre.

Funky La Paz is carved out of the Altiplano like a crater. High-rise buildings lead from the center and up into the surrounding Andes Mountains. Latin America’s latest up-and-coming city, there are unique concept stores, chic coffee houses, and a newly thriving food scene. With limited infrastructure, it will suit those with a sense of adventure.

What we love about Atix Hotel

  • The parallelogram-shaped towering building was designed in collaboration with New York-based design studio, Narofsky Architecture. Clad in native wood and Comanche stone, sourced from a village 70km outside the city near to the famous Puya Raimondii millenary, its design is a blend of Bolivian tradition and North American modernity.
  • Designed to be a live-in art gallery, Hotel Atix houses the work of Gastón Ugalde, Bolivia’s Andy Warhol. Rooms are filled with his vibrant photographs of Bolivian landscapes, while communal spaces house original sculptures.
  • Supporting local artisans and designers, interiors pay homage to Aymara heritage.
  • Rooms are decorated with a neutral colour palette and are minimalist. Local craftsmen and artisans have made wooden headboards and furniture.
  • Larger suites have small corner balconies with some of Ugalde’s bolder outdoor artwork.
  • In-house restaurant Ona is part of an undergoing revolution, modernising La Paz’s food scene. Chefs exclusively cook with Bolivian produce sourced from the surrounding mountains. Dishes steer away from the traditionally potato-laden Andean fare and instead are refined and simple.
  • Mixologist David Romero, hailing from Lima’s Central restaurant is at the helm of Atix Hotel’s rooftop bar +591 (Bolivia’s area code).
  • A sleek decorative infinity pool and Jacuzzi sit aside the bar. The view is dazzling at night when thousands of street lamps light up the hills.
