La Villarrica

Lake District, Chile
WELCOME TO LA VILLARRICA

La Villarrica is a rustic haven in Chile’s Lake District surrounded by flowing rivers, pristine lakes, and verdant woodland.

This 3,500-hectare private estate lies beneath the mighty Villarrica Volcano. At its heart sits the main house, accommodating up to 12 guests across six bedrooms. A short drive away, a separate lake house houses a further two bedrooms.

The surrounding land lends itself naturally to time outdoors, with exceptional horse riding, birdwatching, and long walks across open ground and forest trails directly from the house.

What we love about La Villarrica

  • The spectacular natural setting, with unrivalled access to secluded forests, rivers, and lakes – the trout and carp fishing is particularly strong.
  • Cosy, traditional interiors, with warm wood, generous communal spaces, log fires and a relaxed, family feel.
  • Wide garden views across three volcanoes (Villarrica, Llaima and Mocho Choshuenco) and two lakes, with plenty of spots for long lunches, evening fires and soaking in the hot tub.
  • The scale and privacy – 3,500 hectares of working estate with no through road.
  • The warm, highly capable estate team, who deliver thoughtful local cooking and attentive service.
  • A strong commitment to land stewardship: the estate produces its own honey and organic meat, works with a local university to manage the native forest, and carefully controls wildlife populations.
What to do at La Villarrica

The mesmerising landscapes surrounding La Villarrica beckon to be explored.

Discover its lakes by boat, kayak, or paddle board. Follow trails by foot or horse along shorelines, over rolling hills, and up to the mountain peaks. Set off for a day of hunting or fishing, then have the chef cook your catch in the evening. If visiting during winter (July – September), there’s heli-skiing on nearby Villarrica Volcano.

A range of lower-octane activities on offer mean there’s no need to leave the estate – think birdwatching, walking trails, kayaking, paddle boarding, ping pong and board games.
