This 17th century hacienda is family run, and is the perfect place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city.
What we love about Hacienda La Sierra
- The proximity to Medellin, yet still offering the opportunity to feel fully immersed in the Colombian countryside
- The 17th century colonial architecture of the hacienda
- The stunning views of nearby mountains and extinct volcanoes
- The birds and butterflies
- The food, focusing on traditional Colombian cuisine
- The private balconies with hammocks
- The Oro Molido foundation – started by the family in 2015 with the aim of improving the quality of life of the local community
We recommend spending at least three nights at Hacienda La Sierra, to allow yourself to fully switch off and enjoy your surroundings.
Spend your days relaxing at the hacienda, enjoying meditation and yoga. Swim in the pool or lay in your hammock with a good book. Breathe in that fresh air – it’s not to be underestimated.
There are ample activities on offer at the hacienda, including hiking through the surrounding coffee plantations, birding, horse riding, and exploring the local village of Fredonia.
Hacienda La Sierra is located in Fredonia, just an hour from central Medellin, and two hours from Medellin international airport.
There are direct flights to Medellin from a number of locations within Colombia, including Bogota, Cartagena, and Santa Marta. Medellin is also easily reached from Miami, New York, and Madrid.
We can organise a helicopter to the hacienda if required.
