WELCOME TO UXUA MARÉ
Tucked within a private slice of Brazil’s Mata Atlântica, with 175 metres of pristine Itapororoca beachfront, UXUA Maré is a nature sanctuary and slow-living retreat.
Created by the brilliant minds behind UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa in Trancoso’s historic quadrado, UXUA Maré is the next chapter in their vision. Three century-old antique houses have been deconstructed in Minas Gerais, reassembled here with reclaimed wood, and updated with solar power and a groundwater well. The interiors are impossibly stylish but unfussy, filled with antiques, local art and handcrafted pieces from Pataxó artisans.
Beyond the comforts of the casas, the location couldn’t be better. Monkeys, sloths, and parrots live in the trees, coral reefs are alive with tropical fish just offshore, and a growing collection of rare palms and edible plants nurture a near self-sufficient retreat.
What we love about UXUA Maré
- The private casas, each with a different design: Casa Azul is perfect for couples with just one suite, while Casa Amarela and Casa Branca each have three suites, ideal for friends or family travelling together.
- The secluded setting on Itapororoca Beach, surrounded by rainforest and coral pools.
- Wildlife everywhere, from parrots and monkeys to sloths and giant porcupines.
- A slow-growing vision of regenerative design, with reforestation and an on-site nursery for rare plants.
- The sense of total privacy, yet just a short drive or walk from Trancoso’s historic town square.
