A highland hacienda set in a lush six-acre garden, just outside the charming colonial town of Antigua.
Villa Bokéh feels at once expansive and highly intimate, and carries an unmistakeable sense of place. Each of its 15 rooms has been individually designed, layered with colonial-style furniture, vintage mirrors, local textiles, and artworks from the owners’ private art collection – photography, sculptures, and paintings by Guatemalan artists.
Outside, meandering gardens, shaded alcoves and a lagoon with rowing boats offer a retreat in themselves, and Antigua’s UNESCO-listed Old Town lies just a ten-minute drive away.
What we love about Villa Bokéh
- The gardens – six acres of lily ponds, secluded alcoves, tropical flowers, and a storybook-perfect gazebo perfect for reading or a quiet drink.
- The lagoon in front of the villa, complete with waterfalls, a lounging area and rowing boats, set against the backdrop of the Agua volcano.
- The hotel restaurant – a glass-walled dining room inspired by a châteaux conservatory, serving creative takes on traditional Guatemalan dishes.
- The heated outdoor pool, fringed with palm trees and lined with generous daybeds, hot and cold jacuzzis, and a poolside grill.
- The Casa Santuario spa, with treatments inspired by Mayan traditions, ranging from sound healing to shamanic ceremonies.
- Just about everything in the hotel is Guatemalan-made, from the terracotta tiles to the candles and artworks that fill the rooms, and produce is sourced from the kitchen garden and nearby farmers.

Days here balance Antigua’s historic streets with the calm of the villa’s gardens and lagoon.
Explore nearby Antigua’s cobblestone streets by foot or Vespa, where pastel façades and baroque churches preserve the city’s 17th-century character. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its historic centre remains remarkably intact.
Back at the villa, relaxation beckons. Guests might spend one day relaxing by the pool, another rowing across the lagoon or picnicking on the lawns. Days can be punctuated with yoga, massages or Mayan-inspired rituals at the spa; evenings with bonfires in the gardens and drinks at the honesty bar. Families can collect eggs from the chicken coop or hunt for elves in the grounds, while couples might prefer Mayan-inspired treatments at the spa or bespoke in-room bath rituals, scented with bougainvillea and Palo Santo.

When to Travel
The best time to visit Antigua and Guatemala’s surrounding highlands is during the dry season, from November to April. Days are warm and sunny, with temperatures typically ranging from 23 – 32°C, while evenings in the highland areas are cooler, averaging 15 – 18°C. This period offers clear views of the volcanoes, comfortable conditions for exploring the city’s cobbled streets, and reliable weather for outdoor activities.
