WELCOME TO Venezuela

A land of soaring superlatives, Venezuela offers an awe-inspiring tapestry of landscapes and plenty of opportunity for adventure.

To the north, the azure waters and powdery beaches of Los Roques are a paradise for kite surfers and bone fishing.  To the east, the winding Orinoco River invites adventurers to explore its ancient cultures and immense biodiversity. Rolling south, the vast grassy expanses of the Gran Sabana unfold, giving way to the mesmerising Angel Falls, the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall, and the towering tepuis of Roraima.

Venezuelan cuisine fuses indigenous, African, and Spanish influences. Arepas, cornmeal cakes filled with various ingredients, are a staple.

Pabellón criollo, the national dish, features shredded beef, black beans, and rice.

Hallacas, similar to tamales, embody festive traditions. Fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and rich stews are the orders of the day!

Venezuelan music and dance is rooted in a blend of indigenous, African, and European influences.

The joropo, with its fast-paced rhythm and harp accompaniment, is a national symbol. Salsa, merengue, calypso and tambor are all danced locally.

Venezuelan chocolate and coffee are renowned. And look out for handmade hammocks and baskets crafted by indigenous communities, as well as traditional musical instruments like maracas and cuatro guitars.

Venezuelan literature reflects its complex social and political history. Romulo Gallegos, author of “Doña Bárbara,” portrays rural life and conflicts. Contemporary writer Rafael Cadenas is known for his profound poetry and essays.
