Arriving at Holguin, in the east of the island, you will explore the splendor and energy of Cuba’s first Capital, Santiago de Cuba for two nights, before being driven along the vertiginous Farola mountain pass to Baracoa. The region contains one of the most biologically diverse tropical island sites on Earth – the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park – pretty colonial towns, stunning beaches, and the best food on the island. Accommodation tends to be clean and very simple for this half of the journey.
On day 5, you will fly to La Habana, where you’ll be staying at the coolest digs in town. We’ll make sure you experience the best of this intoxicating city over four nights. There will of course be rum tasting and cigar rolling, as well as a chance to catch the Cuban National Ballet, some son and salsa classes, an afternoon with a local musicologist, art galleries, and studio visits, before flying home out of Havana.
