What to do at Hermes

From the red sand beaches of Rabida Island to the white sand beaches of Darwin Bay, discover all the colors of the Galapagos Islands afloat its inviting turquoise waters.

Each day aboard Hermes brings at least two distinct geographical highlights. Snorkel beneath the steep volcanic cliffs of El Barranco, where shoals fish dart over coral gardens. Cruise past the turquoise coves of Vicente Roca Point, or spot penguins patrolling the waters in Tagus Cove.

On Santa Cruz, trek through trails through the rugged highlands where giant tortoises roam free, or spot hidden iguanas in the enchanted forests of Santa Fe.

Espanola, at the southern tip of the archipelago, is a highlight – the magnificent beaches of Gardner Bay shared with a large colony of playful sea lions.

When to Travel

The Galapagos Islands can be visited year-round. Winter is May to November when temperatures are lower and the seas are a little rougher. Summer is December to April, and the odd downpour is to be expected. The sun is always strong due to the islands’ position on the Equator. Visibility is the same year-round, as are the quantity and variety of animals.
