A private reserve at the foot of one of the world’s tallest waterfalls.
Gocta Natura Reserve is set in northern Peru’s Amazonas region, just a short walk from the base of Gocta Falls, which drops 771 metres in two tiers. The property spans more than 12 hectares of cloud forest, home to orchids, bromeliads, and a variety of bird species, including the Andean cock-of-the-rock.
Accommodation consists of a small number of bungalows and suites, each with views towards the waterfall or surrounding forest. The reserve offers direct access to hiking trails leading to Gocta Falls and nearby villages, with opportunities to explore the region’s archaeological sites and rich biodiversity.
What we love about Gocta Natura Reserve
- The location within a private reserve, just a short walk from Gocta Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in the world.
- Direct views of the falls from many rooms and terraces.
- More than 12 hectares of protected cloud forest, home to diverse flora and fauna.
- Guided hikes to Gocta Falls and nearby archaeological sites.

Days here are best spent exploring the trails through the reserve to the base and viewpoints of Gocta Falls.
Guided hikes can take you to other nearby waterfalls such as Yumbilla, as well as pre-Incan archaeological sites hidden in the cloud forest. Birdwatching is exceptional, with the chance to see the Andean cock-of-the-rock, toucans, and hummingbirds.
Evenings can be enjoyed on the terrace with views of the waterfall, or sampling locally inspired dishes made with produce from the gardens.
Puqio sits about 1.5km southwest of the town of Yanque. To get here, you will fly into Arequipa, before being transferred 3hrs north to the lodge.
