Estancia Vik

JOSE IGNACIO, URUGUAY

Welcome to Estancia Vik

Poloart, design and food enthusiasts are well catered to at Estancia Vik, where the grace of a polo estate meets contemporary design.

Set among 1500 acres of windswept pampas, Estancia Vik is just moments away from surf town José Ignacio and the Atlantic coast. Designed by Uruguayan architect Marcelo Daglio in collaboration with founders Alexander and Carrie Vik, the estate is a majestic reimagining of a Spanish colonial ranch.

Crisp white adobe walls, rustic red tin roofs, and a network of shaded walkways connect a constellation of outdoor courtyards, herb gardens, sculptural installations and uninterrupted countryside vistas. Inside its sprawling 50,000 ft² main structure, more than half of the space is devoted to open-air living, courtyards, gardens and lounges with a dramatic 20m Absolute Nero stone pool.

What we love about Estancia Vik

  • With just 12 artist-designed suites, Estancia Vik feels more like a private residence than a hotel.
  • The master suites open onto sweeping grasslands, offering a true sense of space and serenity.
  • Each room is a collaboration with a leading Uruguayan artist, turning the entire estancia into a living gallery.
  • Though set inland, guests enjoy private access to a beach deck in José Ignacio, just a short ride away.
  • Meals spotlight seasonal produce grown on-site and celebrate traditional Uruguayan barbecue, paired with fresh seafood delivered daily by local fishermen.
  • A full polo field, stables, and endless trails across 1,500 acres make Estancia Vik a dream for riders and nature lovers alike.

What to do at Estancia Vik

Horses are what it’s all about at Estancia Vik. With a string of polo ponies on site, grab a mallet and play a few chukkers on their manicured polo field.

Explore the Atlantic coastline on horseback and go for a gallop along the shores. Ethereal full-moon rides can also be organized. Play gaucho for the day and ride around the windswept pampas of Uruguay’s vast open countryside.

There’s a gorgeous swimming pool in the courtyard or a lagoon for refreshing post chukker dips. Windsurfers and canoeists can also venture out onto the lagoon.

Food and drink are also a highlight at Estancia Vik. Select your wine from a 5,000 strong bottle wine cellar that houses Vik’s signature bottles produced at Vik’s winery in Chile.
