Tucked high in the cloud forests of Eastern Antioquia, Cannúa was conceived as Colombia’s first sustainable, high-end ecolodge. The reserve houses just 18 rooms and cabañas, spread across acres of rewilded hillside and organic gardens, with floor-to-ceiling valley views and simple yet comfortable interiors.
The reserve is rooted in the philosophy of permaculture, and time here is all about nature: walks through forests alive with birdlife, adventures along pre-Hispanic routes in the hills, and imaginative Colombian cooking with produce sourced from the surrounding landscapes.

Set out with a guide through the forest, following ancient pre-Hispanic routes to lookout points and stopping to picnic by hidden waterfalls. Sunset reveals it in a different light, as the sounds shift and dusk settles. Bird watchers can look for motmots and emerald toucanets; others may simply settle in on the deck and watch the canopy open with a cocktail in hand.
Tasting journeys of coffee, rum, and chocolate are led by local producers, each one uncovering another layer of Colombian history.

The dry months bring the clearest skies, open trails and long views across the valley – ideal for walking, stargazing and waking early with purpose. The wetter months are quieter, greener, and favoured by those who prefer solitude and fresh air to perfect conditions. Evenings are cool year-round due to the altitude, so layers are welcome.
