Barracuda Hotel & Villas

ITACARÉ, BRAZIL

WELCOME TO BARRACUDA HOTEL & VILLAS

Set between jungle and ocean near surf-chic Itacaré, Barracuda pairs Bahian character with refined Scandi minimalism.

Perched on a palm tree-fringed clifftop, the hotel has seventeen light-filled suites, a wide infinity pool and rooftop terrace looking out over forest and sea. A short distance away stand a small collection of freestanding villas, tucked amongst the trees.

There’s plenty to do: yoga at sunrise, hike into the Atlantic Forest, catch a wave on the coast, private dinners prepared with what’s best from the fishermen that morning. The Barracuda ‘tribe’ includes everyone from your surf instructor to your chef, and they’re all proud to share their patch of Bahia with you.

What we love about Barracuda Hotel & Villas

  • The interiors draw on Bahian craft, clad in gorgeous native hardwood, with pieces made by local artisans and Brazilian designers.
  • The rooftop terrace, with sweeping views over the ocean and forest – perfect for catching last light with a caipirinha.
  • The villas are a wonderful private sanctum for groups of between 8-16, each with a private infinity pool, full kitchen and staff.
  • The kitchen, headed up by Itacaré local Fernando Luz, where Bahian dishes like ceviche, grilled lobster and moqueca (fish stew) are prepared with Scandinavian simplicity.
  • Easy access to Itacaré’s beaches and surf breaks, as well as guided walks into the Atlantic Forest and boat trips along the coastline.
  • The hotel is deeply committed to sustainability – it uses solar energy, contributes to native reforestation, and invests in deep-rooted community engagement via the Yandê Itacaré Institute and social projects.

What to do at Barracuda Hotel & Villas

Itacaré is a small, boho-cool beach town that’s still refreshingly under the radar.

Spend the morning exploring its powdery-white, jungle-backed beaches, riding horses through the forest, or paddling through mangroves. Hike to hidden waterfalls or join a jeep safari deep into the reserve.

Local guides can take guests out on a surf lesson, try capoeira, or spend the day visiting cocoa plantations and artisans in nearby communities. In the evenings, there are beachside barbecues of fresh fish and plantain wrapped in banana leaves, and swims in the warm waters as the sun sets.
