Titilaka is a lakeside retreat, looking out over the highest navigable waters on earth.
Titilaka sits on a secluded peninsula on the banks of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake at 3,812m above sea level. This remote boutique hotel offers direct access to the water and sweeping views across the lake’s deep blue expanse.
It is an ideal base for exploring the lake’s islands, visiting nearby Andean villages, and discovering the cultural heritage of the region, as well as a place to unwind and take in the high-altitude scenery.
What we love about Titilaka
- The location, on a private peninsula on Lake Titicaca offering uninterrupted views over the water and surrounding highlands.
- Each room has a lake view, with guests able to choose between sunrise over the Bolivian Cordillera or sunset behind the Peruvian shore.
- Freestanding bathtubs are positioned to take in the lake views.
- The majority of the staff are from nearby Aymara and Quechua villages, sharing their knowledge of local culture and traditions.
- The lodge is decorated with woven textiles, ceramics, and other handicrafts made in the surrounding area.
- A firepit near the water’s edge provides a spot to watch the colours change at sunset.
- Three peaceful lounge areas offer space to read, talk, or take in the scenery.

Days here are best spent navigating the lake and exploring the nearby floating islands of Uros
From the lodge, guests can kayak or canoe along the shoreline, cycle through nearby villages, visit local markets, and take advantage of the clear night skies for stargazing. We recommend spending three to four nights to explore the area at a comfortable pace.
One of the most popular excursions is a four-hour boat journey to Isla del Sol, believed to be the birthplace of the Incas, where you can walk ancient trails and visit archaeological sites.
Back at the lodge, the lakeside terrace offers an open view across the water. Sit with a cocktail and watch the light change at the end of the day.

Titilaka is located on the banks of Lake Titicaca, a two hour drive from Juliaca airport.
There are direct flights from Lima and Cusco to Juliaca. The flying time is approximately an hour and 45 minutes from Lima and 40 minutes from Cusco. Puno train station is just a 45-minute drive away.
Titilaka lies at 3,810m above sea level.

When
to Travel
We would recommend visiting Titilaka between May and October, when rainfall is at a minimum. The high altitude means that the temperature fluctuates hugely between day and night. There are hot water bottles at the end of each bed that are replenished each evening to keep guests extra warm at night.
