Villa Bahia

WELCOME TO VILLA BAHIA

Two magnificent mansions come together to create Villa Bahia, a colonial gem located in the heart of Salvador’s historic quarter.

In Pelourinho’s heart, a UNESCO-listed historic quarter lies Villa Bahia. Two colonial homes from the 17th & 18th centuries, remnants of the Portuguese era, have been remodelled; with 17 uniquely themed rooms, featuring double-height French doors or private balconies, feel transported back to the Golden Age of Salvador.

What we love about Villa Bahia

  • Comprising two adjoining 17th and 18th-century mansions, Villa Bahia is uniquely charming. Every room is decorated with an authentic colonial-era feel, featuring high ceilings, four-poster beds interiors & roaring fires
  • It’s located within the beautiful historic quarter of Salvador, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city
  • The Villa features two verdant garden courtyards, a terrace with panoramic views and an invigorating plunge pool
  • The hotel is run with a strong focus on the local community & sustainable development
  • Each of the 17 rooms overlooks leafy courtyards or the Baroque Church of Sao Francisco. On the top floor, rooms include a private terrace
What to do at Villa Bahia

Step outside & experience the vibrant hustle and bustle for yourself, from live bands playing on street corners to locals practising Capoeira, an acrobatic martial art. Sample delicious local dishes like moqueta, a mouthwatering fish-and-seafood stew in coconut sauce. After a day of exploring, take a refreshing dip in Villa Bahia’s pool & take in panoramic views as the sun sets over the roof terrace.

When to Travel

Salvador is a year-round destination. December-March is the high season, with plenty of exuberant music festivals and events to enjoy. Temperatures are hot during this time, with little rain. Between April-June there are far fewer visitors, ideal for anyone seeking a tranquil stay, but also higher humidity levels and more rainfall.
