La Casona

A short walk from Granada’s centre, La Casona is tucked away from the buzz of the city.

Owned by a Danish-Colombian couple, La Casona is a large colonial building. Interiors are inspired by both nationalities. The design is simple & understated. Soaring ceilings give rooms plenty of air and light. Floors and ceilings are often clad in timber, complementing the colonial architecture of the space. Walls are adorned with artworks created by the owner.

What we love about La Casona

  • Running along the bedrooms upstairs, an open-air corridor has hammocks swinging in the breeze & overlooks the gardens
  • Two terraces have panoramic views of Granada’s terracotta rooftops & colonial buildings
  • An impressive master suite is furnished with colonial furniture & a large dark wood four-poster in the middle
  • With space for up to seven guests, there are four bedrooms. There are two doubles & two twins, easily accommodating a family or a group of friends
  • La Casona’s colonial courtyard opens out onto a landscaped garden. There is a turquoise pool with space to read & relax
What to do at La Casona

Granada sits on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. Dating back to the 16th century, architecture is colourful & imposing.

Once a target of pirate invasions, surviving Spanish colonial landmarks and pastel-hued streets lead to Granada’s main plaza, Central Park.

The streets are peppered with rum, chocolate & cigar factories & some of Central America’s most impressive art galleries can be visited.

After exploring Granada, unwind in La Casona’s colonial courtyard & landscaped garden. There is a turquoise pool with space to read & relax.

Adjacent to the pool, a large kitchen with clear ties to Scandinavian style sits at the heart of the property. A visiting chef is available for on-site meals.

La Casona | Nicaragua | South America Holidays

A stay at La Casona is best combined with visits to Lago Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America home to an archipelago of 300 volcanic islands and vast stretches of tropical coastline. From Granada, travellers can head to the colonial city of Leon.
