There’s plenty of opportunity to discover the area’s dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife. Climb up to the top of Cerro La Cruz for breathtaking views, hike along the coast to the neighbouring town of Cachagua or arrange a horse riding expedition. Head out across the ocean in a kayak or take a fishing boat down the coast to visit Penguin Island. For those looking to while away the days in the sun, head to the beach with a good book! But, if you’re hoping to cool off in the sea, be warned the Pacific Ocean is very fresh!
One of the highlights of Zapallar is its ramblas, a two-mile stone walkway that winds along the harbour and hugs the cliffs down the coast. Wander the ramblas, soaking in the architecture and watching the dramatic waves of the Pacific Ocean.
The local restaurants are extremely good. Dine on the catch of the day, whilst sipping Chilean wines and enjoying stunning views across the ocean.
Casa Wilson sits right along the Pacific Coast of Chile next to the small town of Zapallar. It’s 1 hour 50 mins from Santiago by car and 1 hour 30 mins from the colourful coastal town of Valparaiso.
There are direct flights to Santiago from cities across Chile, such as Punta Arenas and Mendoza, as well as from international locations, such as Lima, Buenos Aires and Bogota.
We recommend visiting during summer (between December and April), when the weather is warm and the chance of rainfall is minimal.
If you would like to see the Humboldt Penguins, visit between September and April.
