Plan South America invites you to view the finest private art collection in Nicaragua
Start your behind-the-scenes exploration of Nicaragua’s art world in Granada, where we have special access to the beautiful Pellas family home overlooking the main plaza (once the exotic location for a Vogue cover shoot!).
This is the perfect place to explore the significance of Nicaraguan art, where owners Don Alfredo and Theresita Pellas welcome esteemed local artists and sculptors to display their finest works and share their stories with our clients. This experience offers an unparalleled insight into Granada’s growing art scene. We also recommend visiting Mi Museo to view the exquisite private collection of ceramics – it’s one of our favourite museums in the country.
As soon as you arrive into Leon, the beautiful city skyline paints a vivid picture of its rich history and artistic creativity. Grand cathedrals and spectacular baroque and neoclassical architecture beautify the city centre, which is home to a number of stunning collections of art.
Visit the Fundacion Ortiz-Gurdian under the private guidance of PSA’s local art expert. Formerly the residence of an ex-President, the museum now holds the largest and finest collection of contemporary art across the whole of Central America, and includes works by the likes of Picasso and Diego Rivera. Showcasing notable international works from a range of periods, we’d recommend setting plenty of time aside to wander through at leisure and do its outstanding collections justice. Nicaragua’s dramatic history leaves much to be explored, from the invasion of Christopher Columbus to the revolution of the Sandinistas, as depicted in some of the museum’s most astonishing murals. The recent revolution has greatly impacted the style of art that you see throughout Nicaragua today.
