From crimson rock formations and turquoise lagoons to horizon-bending salt flats, capture the drama of the Argentine Northwest on Kodak analogue camera. Led by professional documentary photographer Michael Turek, this small group photography tour to Argentina traverses the desert plateaus and Andean mountains of Catamarca and Salta. As well as technical advice, Turek will teach you to engage with your surroundings, as if on an editorial assignment. You’ll come away with a thoughtful and intimate body of work documenting your travels.
Whether you’re an expert photographer or an aspiring amateur, you’ll have no shortage of photo opportunities in the breathtaking wilderness landscapes of northwest Argentina. Winding along national routes in a 4×4 vehicle, otherworldly scenery awaits at every turn. Plunging gorges glow shades of rust red and ochre, while immense volcanoes tower over black, barren lava fields. Paths forged by ancient Inca thread through the tropical foliage of the Yungas rainforest. Elsewhere, glassy lakes punctuate endless silvery expanses of pumice desert and abandoned railway stations emerge like mirages from the stark, boundless terrain.
You’ll also have the chance to document some of Argentina’s impressive man-made wonders. Witness The Train to the Clouds gliding effortlessly over a viaduct which spans a yawning desert canyon. Take dynamic shots of the buzzing metropolis of Buenos Aires, elegant colonial architecture in Salta, tiny villages isolated in the Puna desert and fascinating pre-Inca archaeological sites.
