Location, Location: Loma del Angel is a private luxury apartment in the heart of La Habana Vieja, Havana’s historic district, recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A short stroll takes in the capital’s most famous monuments, colourful colonial buildings, four main squares and cathedrals, each connected by cobbled-stone streets and often hosting book and antique markets, or chess games on Sundays.
The mix of architecture in the Old Town is fascinating and you’re a stone’s throw from the city’s finest art galleries and museums, as well as the Teatro Nacional and the Malecón. Top restaurants are within easy walking distance (we’ll make reservations at the hottest tables in town), or for restaurants further afield, we’ll arrange a chauffeur driven vintage car.
Private Home: Slip through tall wooden doors into a charming colonial building to find your secret luxury apartment, recently refurbished to provide a stylish city retreat. Loma del Angel feels like a private home, yet still enjoys a concierge service and the facilities you’d expect from a top-end hotel (room-service, wifi, laundry, A-C, baby-sitting, to name a few!).
The ground floor features a peaceful reception and dining area, with stairs leading to the two suites on the second and third floors. The setting is relaxed and intimate, completely escaping the whirlwind of the crowded city streets below.
Cuban Hospitality: In typical Cuban style, guests are made to feel completely at home and are looked after like old friends, enjoying a gracious 24-hour butler and concierge service, with extensive local knowledge.
Suites: Two spacious suites feature King beds and private bathrooms with walk-in rain showers. There’s space for four guests in total, but the suites can also be taken separately. The Living Room Suite includes plenty of living space (as the name suggests) and a small balcony with views over the streets of Old Havana. The Terrace Suite on the top floor has a gorgeous large terrace, where you can sit out in wicker chairs watching the world go by. The Terrace also has large comfy sofas and a coffee table, so it’s a lovely reading spot with candles and overflowing flower pots adding to its peaceful, hideaway atmosphere.
It’s All About Style: Loma del Angel’s suites and living spaces are chic and simple, with a hint of art deco. The bedrooms feature natural woods, vintage metals, lots of glass furnishings and black framed windows and mirrors. The walls are completely white, decorated with contemporary artwork, whereas the floors are patterned with black and white tiles, matched by comfy black and white striped armchairs. Elegant floor-to-ceiling white curtains keep the rooms cool in the midday heat, leading out to private terrace spaces with views across Havana’s eclectic skyline. Sheets are white Egyptian cotton, topped with beautifully patterned soft throws and guests are treated to a pillow menu for even more personalised comfort.
Breakfast Al Fresco: Enjoy a delicious fresh breakfast in the comfort of your room or out on the terrace watching the city wake up. Tea, freshly squeezed juices, seasonal fruits and home baked pastries are all provided. Whilst there’s no restaurant, a special food and drinks menu is provided with 24-hour room-service and we can bring in a private chef on request.
Cuba Libre: At sunset, sip rum cocktails on the terrace taking in incredible city views. Wherever you are in Havana there’s always music playing, usually someone strumming a Cuban guitar on a deck chair on the pavement, which adds to the seductive atmosphere of this extraordinary city.
Perfect For: Loma del Angel is perfect for a romantic city break, dipping in and out of the action from a private bolthole. For a family of four it works well to take the whole apartment, with the option to arrange extra beds and cots if needed.
