Launching in 2026, be one of the first to experience a unique, luxury journey aboard the Magellan Explorer on its maiden voyage.
The Magellan Explorer is the first small passenger ship purpose-built for Antarctica cruising in the last 14 years.
Capacity is limited to a maximum of 76 passengers per Antarctic air-cruise departure, with each departure fed by a single flight, assuring personal attention.
What we love about Magellan Explorer
- The personal attention offered in a single flight departure and cruise passenger capacity of 76.
- Spacious, brand new suits, many with floor to ceiling windows and outside balconies.
- The range of adventure activities on offer, including kayaking and snowshoeing.
- Its sustainability credentials, with a waste heat recovery system that recycles the heat produced by the ship’s engines, repurposing it to power the ship’s heating system and to warm the water used on board.

Participate in daily shore landings, Zodiac excursions, and outdoor explorations led by an expert expedition team. Onboard, everything is set up for you to relax, observe and learn about the world’s southernmost continent as you voyage through its icy waters.
Activities including sea kayaking and snow-shoeing, hiking and wildlife-watching, spotting elephant seals, humpback whales, Adélie, chinstrap, gentoo, and King Penguins.
The glass-enclosed observation lounge and the forward-facing observation deck offer proximity to marine wildlife from the ship itself. A fleet of 10 Zodiac boats are available for disembarking and wildlife watching.
Combine an ice cold polar plunge with a sauna, or a session in the onboard gym. After dining, in the evening, relax in the bar or enjoy from the library. Expert expedition guides also lead daily workshops and presentations.

To reach Mashpi Lodge, you can fly into Quito, the capital of Ecuador. From here, it’s a scenic three-hour drive to the lodge. Private transportation can be arranged on request.

When is the best time to travel on the Magellan Explorer?
November to March
The best time to visit Antarcica is during its summer season. Early summer from November to mid-January offers pristine landscapes and active wildlife. Late summer, from mid-January to February, is ideal for seeing young penguins and whales.
