Southeast of Bogotá, the Andes mountains give way to a vast tropical grassland known as Los Llanos (‘the plains’).
This agricultural heartland occupies over a quarter of Colombia’s landmass. The region teems with wildlife, harbouring some 700 species of bird and more than 100 species of mammals, including caiman, turtle, anaconda, capybara, deer, armadillo, and wildcat.
