Delve deep into the Peruvian Amazon where exuberant wildlife, indigenous villages and vast waterways await in the mother of all rainforests. Each day, wake to the hypnotic soundscape of the jungle. Our floating home for five days is the Delfin II, a 14-cabin riverboat with a sophisticated atmosphere and excellent facilities. As well as a soothing spa with locally-inspired treatments, there is a a cosy lecture room for talks on Amazonian traditions. From the observation deck, gaze out at panoramic views of the jungle. Meanwhile, authentic dishes made with locally-sourced wild ingredients are served in the dining room. Your cosy suite comes equipped with comfortable beds, a bathroom with hot water showers and a spacious private terrace.

Expeditions led by expert naturalist guides will immerse you in the unique habitats of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Explore palm swamps and hidden lagoons where pygmy marmosets and squirrel monkeys clamber amongst the foliage. Greet students at a local schoolhouse and learn the secrets of medicinal plants from a Shaman in a seldom-visited indigenous village. Then marvel at the contrasting colours of the waters where three distinct rivers meet to form the mighty Amazon.

Over three million species call the Amazon home, from raucous monkeys, giant otters and sloths cloaked in green algae to regal harpy eagles and elusive jaguars. Whether swimming alongside pink river dolphins in a secluded creek or fishing for piranha in a pristine lagoon, the chance to glimpse elusive wildlife adds to the Amazon’s allure.

Our Amazon adventure is bookended by time spent in Peru’s vibrant capital. Lima boasts a flourishing arts scene and the world’s finest cevicherías. On both our first and final nights, we will stay in the stylish Barranco neighbourhood at Hotel B, a Belle Epoque style mansion.
