Get a taste of the laid-back Carioca lifestyle of Rio de Janeiro with tailored swimwear and sophisticated light clothing from Brazilian designers, Frescobol Carioca.
Their apparel is inspired by Rio’s crisp and fresh aesthetic, ranging from light cotton shirts, jersey polos and linen trousers to active wear, versatile scarves and now even canvas bags and sunglasses.
Inspired by the glamour and care-free lifestyle of Rio’s golden age and days spent enjoying the soft sands of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Frescobol Carioca’s first signature creation was their line of beach bats (Frescobol is a beach sport dating back to the 40’s). Each hat is impeccably handcrafted by skilled Brazilian marceneiros (carpenters) using hand-collected driftwood and native hardwood offcuts, recycled from Rio’s carpentry trade.
Frescobol Carioca have since expanded their range, now offering beautifully designed skateboards and surfboards, each unique in colour, shape and detail. Quite the urbanization, and ratehr suiting considering Rio has grown, expanded and adapted with the times.
For the history buffs out there, Frescobol, also called Matkot is said to have originated in the Middle East where beach culture was expanding in the 1920’s. Many moons later, the game is now best enjoyed at sunset on Copacabana or Ipanema beach.
