WELCOME TO HACIENDA BAMBUSA

Set in the rolling hills of the Zona Cafetera, this secluded private estate offers horseback riding, excellent food, hiking, and birdwatching.

Hacienda Bambusa is a charming working farm located in Colombia’s coffee region. Owned by the Montoya family, the hacienda is surrounded by the Andes Mountains, bamboo forests, and fruit and cacao plantations.

What we love about Hacienda Bambusa

  • The eight spacious guest rooms, all with a private balcony or terrace
  • The birdlife – the hacienda has over 100 species of birds living there
  • The incredible scenery and views
  • The activities on offer – adrenaline junkies can get their fix with activities such as paragliding, zip-lining and bamboo rafting down La Vieja River
What to do at Hacienda Bambusa

The rolling hills surrounding Hacienda Bambusa provide a scenic backdrop to the wide range of activities on offer.

If you only head out to one place while at Hacienda Bambusa, make sure it’s Valle de Cocora. This majestic valley is home to the Quindio Wax Palm, Colombia‘s national tree and the world’s tallest variety of palm tree. Think cloud forests, orchids, and hummingbirds.

Coffee is one of Colombia’s principal exports – its cultivation is full of historic and cultural significance. Learn everything about the coffee process and taste different varieties of beans at neighbouring fincas, open exclusively to Bambusa clients.

Venture into the Andes for an unforgettable day of hiking. Routes range from 2-7 hours and are tailored to suit individual needs. Peñas Blancas and Rio Verde are our favourite trails.

A hot air balloon is a fun way to take in the scenery; flights take place early in the morning when weather conditions ensure a smooth ride. For those who like to keep their feet nearer the ground, grab a horse and ride through the Hacienda’s coffee and banana plantations along the Quindio River.

Salento, a bustling colonial market town at the centre of the Coffee Zone, is worth a visit. It is also the gateway to one of Colombia’s most captivating National Parks: Los Nevados.

River otters, armadillos, pacas, anteaters, sloths, jaguarundi pumas and howler monkeys roam the surrounding forests and rivers; the local botanical garden is one of the region’s most valued conservation projects.
