Family home Casa Macaire sits in the heart of Chile’s Casablanca Valley, known for its production of crisp Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc as well as reds Pinot Noir and Merlot.
Despite its proximity to Chile’s capital, Casa Macaire is tranquil and far from the hustle of the city.
Built by a British-Chilean couple, influences from both nationalities are felt throughout the property. Interiors are understated, cosy and refined.

Botanical prints adorn the walls of a sun-soaked study furnished with dark wood and antiques. Overlooking the vines, curl up in an armchair with a book and a glass of wine.
A homely kitchen sits at the heart of the property, a formal dining room sits to its side.

Tastings are held in a well-stocked underground wine cellar or outside on a patio with sweeping views of the grounds.
Rooms open out onto small patios, perfect for sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunset over the vineyard.

There are seven large bedrooms, split across two different wings. Spacious and private, the property is set up well for groups of families and friends. All en suite except for two children’s rooms, there is a mix of double suites and twin rooms.
The house sits amidst 50 hectares of olive trees, vineyards, lavender bushes and native trees. Slump in the olive grove accompanied by an overflowing picnic hamper or plunge into a pool fringed by the vines. Hike up to the nearest lookout and take in stunning views of the neighbouring vineyards.

Guests may opt to head out on horseback and see more of the valley or visit the region’s vineyards for tastings and tours. A favourite is Bodegas Re, known for their crisp whites and rosés.

Casa Macaire is just 45 minutes from Santiago and 40 minutes from Valparaíso. A perfect pitstop on a Chilean road trip or perhaps for a longer stay for full immersion in Chile’s renowned wine region.
