700’000 Heures Open A Wandering Hotel in Lençóis Maraheuse, Brazil

2019

700’000 Heures refers to the number of hours humans spend on earth. Equivalent to just under 80 years.

Thierry Teyssier, founder and director of 700’000 Heures, the world’s first ‘wandering hotel’, believes the best way to spend this precious time is on authentic travel experiences.

700’000 Heures has been based in Morocco and Cambodia during previous seasons & this is the first edition to take place in Latin America.

Since the end of June, the nomadic hotel has been based in Lençóis Maraheuse, in a remote national park of northeast Brazil. Home to looming white dunes & emerald lagoons, the region comes to life after the rainy season, from June to October.

Acting as curators, hosts, guides & chefs, Teyssier’s team tailors the experience to each guest’s preferences, ensuring stays at 700,000 are not set around rigid itineraries.

A visit to this lagoon-side property in Lençois might feature an aperitif in a local fisherman’s hut followed by a night of stargazing. Meandering hikes through the dunes are followed by picnics under shaded canopies. After a siesta, guests may take to the water, swimming, sailing or kite surfing across the glittering lagoons.

There is plenty to explore beyond the dunes. Guests may visit local artists’ studios, or take a trip to a distillery to sample the local liquor – cachaça.

Wander to the nearby fishermen’s village, Atins, where cows graze & stalls heavy with exotic fruit line the streets.

Flying into São Luis airport from São Paulo, guests will be met by the 700’000 Heures team & transported to the three-room property in Lençois – a three-hour drive away. It is a six-night experience, with the possibility to stay longer & open until the end of October.
