Antarctica
Antarctica is safe for travel and there is every expectation that the 2021/2022 season will go ahead. Antarctica is accessed via South Africa, Argentina or Chile, so routes will depend on the local situation in those countries. Contact our Antarctica team to find the best route. There is still space for December’s Solar Eclipse programme!
Argentina
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Argentina’s borders are currently closed for international tourists, but will be reopening on 1st November 2021.
Argentina endured one of the world’s longest lockdowns, but case numbers have been falling steeply since early June. 48% of the population are currently fully vaccinated.
Belize
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Belize’s borders are open. All travellers must download the Belize Health App and input the required information 72 hours before arriving in Belize. Travellers who have received two doses of the vaccine are exempt from testing on arrival, but they must bring an Official Vaccine Card. Travellers who haven’t received the vaccine must provide a negative PCR test taken no longer than 96 hours before travelling.
Case numbers in Belize have been low for months. 31% of the population are currently fully vaccinated.

Bolivia
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Bolivia’s borders are currently open. Proof of a negative PCR test is required for entry. Around 28% of the population have been fully vaccinated and cases numbers have been declining rapidly since June.
Brazil
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Brazil’s borders are open, except for those coming from the UK. All travellers must provide a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before boarding. Travellers are also required to fill in a health declaration form.
Approximately 42% of the population have been fully vaccinated and case numbers have been falling rapidly since the end of June.

Chile
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Chile’s borders are currently closed for international tourists, but will be reopening on 1st October 2021. There will be a mandatory five day quarantine on arrival.
Case numbers have been falling steeply since the beginning of June. Around 75% of the population have been double vaccinated.
Colombia
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Colombia’s borders are open. All travellers must provide a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of boarding. Travellers must also download an app to report their health status.
Case numbers have been declining rapidly since July 1, 2021. Around 33% of the population are now fully vaccinated.

Costa Rica
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Costa Rica’s borders are open. All foreign visitors must complete an epidemiological survey and have taken out local medical insurance. We recommend Sagicor Seguros. No PCR tests are required for entry.
Case numbers have been falling since mid-May. Around 39% of the population are fully vaccinated.

Cuba
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Cuba’s borders are currently open. All travellers are currently required to quarantine for five days on arrival to Cuba. From 15th November 2021, there will be no quarantine or testing – just temperature checks on arrival in Cuba.
Around 44% of the population are fully vaccinated.
There is widespread civil unrest, largely in response to shortages and the regime’s handling of the pandemic.
Ecuador & the Galapagos
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Ecuador’s borders are open. All travellers are required to produce a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival. Travellers must also complete a health status form before arriving in Ecuador.
Case numbers have been falling steadily since May. Around 56% of the population have been double vaccinated.

Guatemala
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Guatemala’s borders are open, except for those coming from Brazil, South Africa, or the UK.
Around 14% of the population are currently fully vaccinated.

Mexico
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Mexico’s borders are open and there are currently no restrictions to enter the country. Temperatures will be taken for new arrivals and accommodation details are required for tracing purposes.
Approximately 35% of the population are fully vaccinated.
Nicaragua
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Nicaragua’s borders are open. All travellers need to provide a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arriving in Nicaragua.
Around 4% of the population are fully vaccinated.

Panama
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Panama’s borders are open. Travellers need to present a negative PCR test taken no more than 48 hours prior to arrival. Travellers from all South American countries, India, the UK, and South Africa will be required to present a negative PCR on arrival, but even if this is negative, they will need to quarantine for three days.
Case numbers started rising again in May after several quiet months. Around 50% of the population have been fully vaccinated.

Peru
Are the borders open? If so, what are the entry requirements?
Yes, Peru’s borders are open, except for travellers coming from India, South Africa or Brazil. All travellers must provide a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure.
Cases numbers in Peru have been falling since early May. Around 30% of the population are fully vaccinated.
