Pablo Neruda wrote that Chile was ‘invented by a poet’. Bordered on one side by the Andes mountains and on the other by the Pacific Ocean, it extends over 4000kms north to south and averages only 177kms east to west.

From the Atacama Desert, the mainland stretches south through vineyards, lakes, fjords and snow-capped volcanoes to the breathtaking Torres del Paine National Park and beyond to Cape Horn, southernmost point in the Americas.  The best beaches are to be found around Easter Island, home of the mysterious monolithic human figures; the incredibly chic yet understated Pacific resort of Zapallar; and in the southern Atacama, home of the fabulous remote camp Wara Nomade.

Chile’s geography is perfectly honed for adventure, boasting truly world-class lodges and some of the most remarkable landscapes on the planet.  We have been exploring the region for years and take great pleasure in sharing our favourite secrets and hideaways.  Get in touch with one of our Chile specialists for some inspiration.

What people say

  • We have just come back from a three month trip with our 9 year old daughter, incorporating Argentina, Chile and Uruguay - all organised by PlanSouthAmerica. Originally we had intended to make the arrangements ourselves, thinking it would save costs - thank goodness we didn't! It would UNDOUBDTEDLY have been a false economy. PSA not only gave us access to the most fabulous estancias and properties in general, but more importantly, they tailored our trip allowing us to get a real flavour for the culture. We had wanted a mix of 5 star luxury with the occasional self-catering reality check -their knowledge of the region is second to none and they pitched it perfectly. One overriding aspect is their superb organisation. All transfers (both by air and ground) ran without fault. We had the most delightful (and knowledgeable) drivers, who were always prompt and when we had flights, boarding passes were emailed to our location, printed off and presented to us, saving us a lot of time and angst. There was always someone on-hand at PSA, able to give advice on local activities, sort out problems etc. It was comforting to know that there was someone permanently covering our backs. Thank you Harry, Cecile and Hero for organising and executing the most wonderful trip!
  • I cannot tell you what an amazing time we are did you manage it?!
  • We were delighted with the trip we have just completed to Brazil and Argentina. We walked down Copacabana beach, watched a tapir swim past our canoe in the Pantanal, were submerged in the Iguazu falls, conquered desert and vineyards in northwest Argentina, experienced a snowstorm in the Andes, fed Cayman off horseback and enjoyed a tango show in probably the finest city in South America. A truly memorable experience: we have no hesitation in recommending Plan South America.
