The Ultimate Antarctic Expedition: 12th – 19th December 2020
Dreaming of Antarctica? We are chartering individual cabins aboard private superyacht M/Y Legend for a magnificent 7-night adventure.
The ultimate voyage to one of the last great wildernesses, there are 13 double cabins available for individual charter.
Onboard superyacht M/Y Legend
Expect sumptuous onboard facilities. Suites are spacious, with airy en-suite bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and open-plan living spaces.
There is a gym with panoramic views and a Balinese spa for weary muscles.
Evenings are spent unwinding in the piano salon and cinema room, or with talks from naturalist guides and special guests. On deck, there is a well-stocked bar and large jacuzzi.
Guests join the super yacht after flying from Chile’s southernmost city, Punta Arenas, to King George Island, Maxwell Bay. Known as Antarctica’s unofficial capital, it is the largest island of the South Shetlands.
The itinerary includes a visit to the active volcanic island of Deception. Sail through the narrow course known as Neptune’s Bellows, and watch as sulphurous steam rises off the beach. While swimming in the thermally heated waters of Pendulum Cove, guests can admire the thousands of chinstrap penguins perched on surrounding hills.
Next Stop: the Lemaire Channel, an 11-kilometre strait off Antarctica leading to a jigsaw of islands. Its steep cliffs, known locally as “Kodak Gap” for its photogeneity, are tinged blue-green from copper deposits and orange and yellow from lichens.
Kayak around the spectacular icebergs of Paradise Bay and admire the mountains reflected in the water. Wander among Gentoo penguins and spot humpback whales and seals, later setting foot on the continental mainland of Antarctica at Neko Harbour. Climb the hills and watch as vast chunks of ice break away from the glacier to form icebergs. There are few adventures to match this.
