Hanse Explorer

WELCOME TO HANSE EXPLORER

The Hanse Explorer, built as an expedition yacht in 2008, is a well-equipped luxury private charter, tough enough for the harshest of Antarctic expeditions.

The expedition crew will tailor the itinerary to your group‘s interests and capabilities. Each day, they’ll expertly guide you safely through the staggering and imposing frozen landscapes, leading you to spectacular wildlife encounters.

What we love about Hanse Explorer

  • She’s been built to tackle the most challenging waters with a nimble shell and extra thick steel hull
  • The ship is ice class category GL-E3 (the highest category), so she can get to hard-to-reach areas
  • Hanse Explorer is a private charter with just 7 cabins, sleeping up to 12
  • We can build creative, custom itineraries that will take you off the beaten track of the already isolated continent
  • The vibe is one of a relaxed, floating ‘home away from home’
  • The lounge and dining room have large windows to bring the stunning scenery indoors

What to do at La Villarrica

The expedition crew will tailor the itinerary to your group‘s interests and capabilities. Each day, they’ll expertly guide you safely through the staggering and imposing frozen landscapes, leading you to spectacular wildlife encounters.

When you aren’t off-ship discovering the Antarctic wilderness, the open ship philosophy means that you are welcome to wander all areas of the ship from bow to stern. Join the crew on the bridge to learn more about the world of navigation by charts or speak to our engineers in the engine room about the dynamics of a ship like the Hanse.

HANSE EXPLORER

Getting to Antarctica on Hanse Explorer is part of the experience. Most of the cruises depart from Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world. Known as the gateway to the Antarctic, from Ushuaia, it takes two days to cross the Drake Passage before reaching the Antarctic Peninsula.

When
to Travel

The Austral summer runs November through March and brings mild temperatures and 24-hours of sunlight.

Antarctica’s personality changes with the passing of each summer month. Depending on the time of your visit, a landing at a penguin colony can offer a glimpse of courting rituals, the birth of baby chicks, or an encounter with adolescent penguins curious to meet new visitors.
